110 Years of Surfing

110 Years of Surfing

It was great to join with Surfing Sutherland Shire to celebrate 110 years of surfing in Cronulla, since Duke Kahanamoku caused a sensation on February 7th 1915, at North Cronulla Beach.

The sun was out and the wooden surfboard display, Duke replica surfboard photo booth, community BBQ and t-shirt stall to keep the crowd engaged prior to the official ceremony at 11am.

Mayor Jack Boyd and Cook MP Simon Kennedy joined in the celebrations that also featured a Ukulele demonstration, Alaia surfing demonstration and surf history lesson on Dukes visit, provided by John Veage.

Proceeds for the sale of our limited edition Duke tee shirts raised $1000 to support the Surfing Sutherland Shire Regional Junior Titles.
